New Titanium self-tapping insert
The wide range of Trisert® self-tapping inserts has been developed to meet the needs of markets where speed of installation and reliability are key criteria.
In order to complete its offer, Tappex has added a new material to its Trisert-3 range, the Trisert-3 self-tapping insert made of Grade 5 titanium, thus opening up new applications, particularly in harsh environments, corrosive atmospheres and when weight are of great importance.
Titanium has three great properties that make it particularly valuable :
- Its high level of resistance to corrosion.
- Its low density.
- Its high resistance.
The new Trisert-3 Titanium retains all the advantages of the existing Trisert-3 range, namely speed of installation, installation without tapping (and therefore without tapping tools) on thin parts, without deformation even if the support is deformed.
Titanium grade 5 is a Titanium alloy which, when exposed to the ambient atmosphere, produces an inert and stable oxidation film which gives Trisert-3 Titanium its excellent resistance to corrosion, particularly in marine environments or polluted water (such as ports).
Titanium has a very high strength / weight ratio and low density (about 50% lower than 316 stainless steel for example).
