Sprirolox retaining rings – for low-clearance applications

Spirolox snap rings are also known as spiral snap rings. They are manufactured by winding a flat metal wire, rather than by drawing.

They are typically used in applications such as electrical couplers. A corrugated spring is coupled to a snap ring, allowing the components to rotate independently.

Spirolox retaining rings are also integrated into rubber bellows, where they ensure a near-perfect seal when the bellows fills with grease.

Highly reliable, they are unlikely to come apart on their own.

A manufacturing process offering numerous advantages

The manufacturing process for Spirolox retaining rings offers a number of advantages:

Firstly, the product has no stamping burrs. This makes installation easier, as there is no interference with adjacent assembly components.

Secondly, the double-turn ring allows support on a 360° holding surface.

What’s more, the special feature of Spiralox EH and ES retaining rings is that they are in the metric system and therefore meet aerospace specifications.

They are also suitable for grooves specifically designed for 2-turn Spiralox retaining rings for light to medium load applications.

Finally, they are interchangeable with bolts in certain applications where they are installed to hold 2 components together.

A wide, adaptable range

The diameters of Sprirolox EH and ES retaining rings range from 6 to 280mm. The EH ring mounts in an internal groove (bore), while the ES ring mounts in an external groove (shaft).

Our range of retaining rings includes over 6000 standard parts. They are available in carbon steel, 302 or 316 stainless steel. However, if your application has special requirements, specific rings can be designed without tooling costs. We can adapt the diameter, bending, material used, ring size, finish, ends or even the winding direction of the stop ring.

In the same way, prototypes can be quickly produced for large or small orders.
