      Standard cage nut

The standard cage nut is an essential mechanical component in many assembly applications. Thanks to its clever threading, it offers an effective solution for fastening supports that are accessible from only one side. Square in shape, the cage nut, also known as the clip-on nut, consists of a steel cage housing a square nut. The main feature of this nut is its generous clearance inside the cage. This gives it great flexibility during final assembly.

      An ingenious design

The cage nut cage has two lugs on opposite sides, designed to prevent the nut from moving sideways. The other two sides of the cage are fitted with two wings that must be lightly pinched to fit into the square hole designed to receive the cage nut. Once released, these wings hold the nut firmly in place by resting on the edges.

This feature ensures that the nut retains sufficient clearance to maintain perfect alignment with the threaded rod.

Note that the cage and nut can be made of zinc-plated steel/zinc-plated steel, zinc-plated steel/stainless steel, stainless steel/zinc-plated steel or stainless steel/stainless steel.

Easy installation for a wide range of applications

One of the major advantages of cage nuts is their ease of installation. No special tools are required, as the cage itself constrains the nut. This feature saves precious time during assembly operations. However, it is important to note that this fastening system is not designed to withstand significant stresses or loads.

The cage nut is widely used in a variety of sectors, including the automotive industry, electrical infrastructure, telecommunications and electronics. You’ll find it commonly used for anchoring panels, rigid structures and open profiles.

In conclusion, the standard cage nut is an indispensable part of many mechanical assembly applications. Its easy installation, versatility and ability to adapt to different environments make it a wise choice.
